Diabetes is the major cause of kidney disease. As diabetes is a progressive disease, the prevalence of diabetes related kidney disease increases with the duration of diabetes.Kidney disease in diabetes can range from mild derangement of kidney function to major kidney failure leading to dialysis.To effectively manage kidney disease in diabetes patient, a team approach of diabetologist and nephrologists (kidney specialist) is required. For early detection and management of kidney disease suchmulti-disciplinary team management can help reduce complications.
Diabetes unit of KEM hospital, Pune is the only hospital in Pune conducting such multi-disciplinaryspecial OPD in the management of diabetes related kidney diseases.

• Combined assessment of patient by diabetologist and nephrologist at the same time.• Detection and management of riskfactors for diabetes kidney diseases
• Special counselling on diet
